I’ve been pretty busy again since I’m planning my moving to my “summer palace” (aka a floor below to a much cooler bedroom in my house) so I’ve been checking magazines and products to help me decorate my new bedroom. The room is already painted blue (my sister’s choice) and I decided to leave it this way, partly cause I’m not in the mood for painting but also because it reminds me of the beautiful Greek sea.
So if you’re thinking of renovating or redecorating your house for the summer here are some tips to help you (and me) with it!
If you’re lazy as I am or if your budget is a bit tight there’s no reason for much fuzz and expenses. Few changes can brighten your space and give it a new vibe!
Color is key so if you’re not interested in painting your walls adding some key pieces in your space can do the trick just fine! If your room is white add some colorful curtains, and matching pillows. If you have many items in one room chose a single colored pair of curtains, in orange, light blue or green to spice up things a little bit. If your space is pretty plain in colors or with only the basic furniture, then you can play with a more colorful flowery patterned design. You can buy these from any flea market, cause they all have a fabric store and you can buy it quite cheap! This way you can make some matching pillows for your sofa or your bed! I absolutely love the contrast of plain white bedding sheets with vivid and colorful pillows!
What I also love is to add more flowers to my house. Not only in a vase, but actually having flowers and decorate my balcony. It is very soothing after a busy day to spend some time reading a book or relaxing in a balcony full of colors and scents! Believe me,it will change your mood instantly! It is also a great place for meet ups with your friends, and a very nice spot for a romantic dinner with your loved one!
Another thing I love doing around this time is making my own homemade decorations! What I do is very simple: every year whenever I visit the beach,or I go on a trip I like collecting shells, small rocks and sand (yes, sand!!). So around this time I visit IKEA for cheap colorful bottles and vases and of course little frames. Then, I add my “treasures” and create a nice piece full of memories, colors and summer for my coffee table or my wall!
Last thing I do is adding some summer to my everyday routine. Unfortunately the last 3 summers I haven’t been able to relax that much causeI only have few days off. But I need a little summer dosage in my life to remind me that my vacations is coming! So I keep it always in my purse: my phone case, my key chain and my iPad cover!! Try summery colors and patterns and don’t forget to add beautiful wallpapers to your tech-buddies to cheer you up every time you use them at home or work!
So here’s my June wish list for changing my mood!
