Hey darlings!!! How are you??
Today I wanted to talk to you a bit more about bags. As you know, I love bags so much but the past few years I’m trying to be more sustainable on my choices and also trying to avoid leather as much as possible. So I’m making more conscious choices now in life and I try to invest in long lasting pieces in order to avoid great consumption of products in the long term.
On that note there is one brand in particular making very important steps towards sustainability while still producing high quality items.
Prada has been around for decades and is a well known House but the decision they made to move towards sustainability is a crucial step for the House, allowing them to invest in more eco friendly methods and transparency regarding their activities.
For the Re-Nylon collection Prada collaborated with the textile yarn producer Aquafil, an Italian company with over half a century of expertise in creating synthetic fibers.
Econyl is a regenerated-nylon yarn that can be recycled an indefinite number of times without affecting the quality of the material, which allows multiple uses and provides such freedom regarding fabrics and materials. Easy to recycle and reuse as many times as possible, allowing the fabric to become so many things throughout its circle of life.
The Prada Re-Nylon 2020 collection includes ready-to-wear for the first time and redefined both of Prada’s signature nylon textiles in sustainable Re-Nylon fabrics. Alongside ready-to-wear, the collection features the first Re-Nylon footwear , hats, belts and multiple bag silhouettes and an archival Re-Edition style drawn from 2000.
According to the brand the new collection is ” Representing a commitment to sustainable practice now and in the future, the expansion of the Prada Re-Nylon offering renews a company-wide estimate goal for sustainability: to convert all Prada virgin nylon into regenerated nylon by the end of 2021″.
Sustainability is a founding element of the Prada Group’s identity and is deeply rooted in the Company’s strategy. The most distinctive features of sustainability in Prada, such as the investment in culture, the harmonious integration with the local community, going through the investment in new sustainable materials and the growing importance of inclusivity in the working environments, and more generally, for the brand, are the principles contained in the Group’s Sustainability Policy which represents a formal commitment towards the communities in which it operates.
