Hey ladies! How are you? I really hope this finds each one of you well and safe at home..
In these difficult times it is important to maintain a level of “normality” and adjust as much as possible to the new everyday life standards.
For me, as I work in shifts and I can’t remain in self quarantine for more than 10 days straight, It is very important in the days that I remain at home to distress and relax and take care of myself both physically and emotionally.
One of my rituals is skincare. With enough time now when I’m home I can take really good care of my skin. Sleeping as much as possible and maintain healthy skincare habbits.
A favorite brand of mine is The Ordinary. I’m sure most of you are quite familiar with the brand already, so for those few that aren’t here is a short introductory on the Ordinary:
The Canadian brand offers skin care treatments in the form of formulas where you can have the active ingredients in no-frills packaging at affordable prices. Compared to other brands the concentration of each ingredient is usually in the highest percentage possible, while the pricing is normally bellow 10$. Its formulas are typically based around a single “hero” ingredient, which gives you a much higher “dose” of the ingredient that you actually buy the product for, than most other brands. If you simply compare their star product for example (the Retinoid) with any other brand that sells similar products you’ll notice that The Ordinary’s version of the product has much higher concentration of the ingredient and in such affordable price. Products also come in simple and easy to use dropper bottles with plain white labels (which for a minimalistic freak like me its just Heaven).
Now the range of the products is simply insane! There are products for every skin type, beauty routine and need. It is a little bit complicated though for people not familiar with the use of every ingredient to decide on what to buy.
Fear not ladies! The website has very good layout and of course the option to follow and check their regiment guide on how and when to use and how to combine products. (link for the regiment guide here)
I do have several of their products I must admit, first of all because I have found that they work for me and secondly, because they are cruelty free and parabens free. Here is a small list of my most favorites!
Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution
An amazing toner for acne prone skin! Make sure you only use it in your nighttime routine tough.
Resveratrol 3% + Ferulic Acid 3%
This is a very good antioxidant for your nightime routine also. Im usually mixing it with the 100% Plant-Derived Hemi-Squalane and it absorbs so much better like that. It is normally the last step before my night cream.
AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution
If you ask what I’m mostly excited beauty-wise in my routine then this is it! This peeling solution is just AMAZING for my skin. I do it twice a week and I’ve seen such a huge difference in my skin. The only thing you need to be careful with is how long you leave it on. My skin is quite used to chemical peeling so I never had issues but if you’re new to this make sure you start with 7 minutes and gradually add time up to the 10 minutes that is the maximum time.
Caffeine Solution 5% + EGCG
Say bye-bye to puffy eyes!! Its so easy and simple and such a good oil to use and perfect for both daytime and night time! it is always in my routine and absorbs really well.
Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1%
Ladies, that’s my hero right there.. This formula is the best for these days of the month (where your face totally depicts your mood too!) when my acne would normally skyrocket. Ever since I use it I don’t have any breakouts! Even with the suspicion of a breakout I apply this at night (as a special treatment, not every night now as my skin is great at this point) and the next morning I have nothing!
If you don’t like layering products or you’re lazy to do it and in need of just one product then this is the one. Just get the Buffet. Its an amazing, anti-aging formula which combines several peptides and will completely transform your skin. I love using it in the morning as it gives me a brightness equivalent of a good 10 hour sleep ( which is never the case for me and its a good trick to hide that!). This product comes also in another version, the “Buffet” + Copper Peptides 1% which is a bit stronger but again if you’re not layering products I would totally recommend the second one for more obvious results.
